Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo 5 TON

The LARC-5 is, as the name suggests , an amphibious vehicle , with a load capacity of 5 ton . Primarily used to transfer stores and personnel from ship to shore . It can operate on inland waterways after having crossed almost any type of terrain or negotiating a 60 per cent grade limit . . . in four wheel drive mode. These amazing craft originally built around 1960 for the American Army , are 10.67 metres long by 3.05 metres wide. Being constructed from a 5000 series aluminium they are relatively light for their dimensions and have a total gross mass of 13,608 kilograms ( 13.6 tonnes ) when laden . The LARC-V is boat shaped with four large wheels fitted with flotation tyres with an outside diameter of approximately 1.6 metres. In original configuration , these craft were fitted with a V8-300 horsepower diesel engine. This engine married up to a forward / reverse transmission with a shaft drive to a transfer transmission ( having a low range / high range / marine drive and differential ). On road these vehicles have a turning circle of 11metres a low range speed of 14 kph , a high range speed of 48 kph and a range of approximately 400 kilometres . Water speed of this craft is approximately 16 kph. These versatile craft have been used in many roles during their life.                                                                          1. Ltd. are able to offer total support for these equipment's and are able to supply rebuilt / service exchange machinery assemblies and are quite competent to carry out repower projects. Our inventory includes a large range of spare parts including new and rebuilt clutch pack assemblies which enables us to offer ongoing support. With our background support for LARC-V amphibious vehicles , we at Clarke Automotive Pty. Ltd. have been successful in our tender to upgrade the hydraulics , electric's and brakes of some of these craft for the Australian Army .
